MEET OUR veterinarians

Dr. Dixon was born and raised in Blackshear, GA. He currently resides in Rome, GA and shared a beautiful life with Mary Louise Dixon for 47 years. Together they have two children Beth Dixon Holland and Charles Dixon and four grandchildren. 

Dr. Dixon volunteers much of his time in the community and is a member of First United Methodist Church of Rome. He has many hobbies that include photography, gardening, stamp collecting, coin collecting, and wood working.

 Dr.Dixon graduated from Blackshear High School in 1963. Attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College; 1965, University of Georgia, College of Agriculture; 1967, and University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine; 1970. Dr. Dixon became owner of East Rome Animal Clinic in October, 1976.

Dr. Wood was born and raised in Lindale, GA. He currently resides in Armuchee with his wife, Dr. Hali Wood D.V.M. and their daughter, Lora Lee. His love for animals extends home with his dogs Gatsby and Elsa (the three legged Pomeranian), a cat, Stella, and horses, Windy and Amira. 

Dr. Wood is a 2010 graduate of Pepperell High School. He attended Berry College where he earned his Animal Science degree. Dr. Wood graduated from Lincoln Memorial University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. Dr. Wood is no stranger to East Rome Animal Clinic. He began working as a Kennel Technician at 15 years old and that is what started his love and passion for helping animals.
